I will be giving you some expert advice on buying a guitar, which I have felt most effective when buying a guitar. When buying a new electric guitar, there are several things you need to consider. Just like shopping for anything, while shopping for a new electric guitar needs research on your part. Fist thing that you need, if you are a first time buyer, is to decide how much you are willing to spend. For absolute beginners, the budget should not exceed $300. Most musicians started out playing with an instrument that is not very easy to play on. Sometimes gifted or given by someone. It is also a good idea to have a guitarist friend, who has been playing guitar for a long time, to follow you on your guitar purchasing trip. A friend can help you decide which guitar to buy and save you from making an expensive mistake. It is also important to keep plenty of time on your hand.

Be prepared to spend at least couple of hours in the store. Take your time and look around. There are stores where they will let you play around with guitars before you buy them. Choose a guitar that feels most comfortable in your hand. Plug the guitar in and do a simple sound check. Do a quality check on the guitar. Look for obvious flaws, such as fret board level, unusual curves, height of the action, check for anything loose or rattling or buzzing of the strings. If you find any defect, or not satisfied with the sound, just reject the guitar.

Ask the salesman for help. Ask him for the guitars specification, make, model, pickups, etc. Also mention the style of music you are playing and make sure that the guitar you are looking at, is suitable for the style of music you are playing.

Once you have picked a guitar, look in the store again to see if you can find a better guitar for a less price. I know this takes a lot of patience, but this is your first instrument and probably this will have a long lasting effect on you.

Once you have bought the guitar, you’ll need to get some accessories for your instrument. Pick up  at least 10 picks, a guitar case, an amp, allen wrench, patch chord, guitar strap, some extra strings and if you can, a guitar processor. Also don’t forget to pick up some training materials and instructional videos. You can get everything you need at Guitar Paradise.

Bring your guitar home and shred on.
