Useful Tips On Buying A New Electric Guitar

Be
prepared to spend at least couple of hours in the store. Take your time and
look around. There are stores where they will let you play around with guitars
before you buy them. Choose a guitar that feels most comfortable in your hand.
Plug the guitar in and do a simple sound check. Do a quality check on the
guitar. Look for obvious flaws, such as fret board level, unusual curves,
height of the action, check for anything loose or rattling or buzzing of the
strings. If you find any defect, or not satisfied with the sound, just reject
the guitar.
Ask
the salesman for help. Ask him for the guitars specification, make, model,
pickups, etc. Also mention the style of music you are playing and make sure
that the guitar you are looking at, is suitable for the style of music you are
playing.
Once
you have picked a guitar, look in the store again to see if you can find a
better guitar for a less price. I know this takes a lot of patience, but this
is your first instrument and probably this will have a long lasting effect on
you.
Once
you have bought the guitar, you’ll need to get some accessories for your
instrument. Pick up at least 10 picks, a
guitar case, an amp, allen wrench, patch chord, guitar strap, some extra
strings and if you can, a guitar processor. Also don’t forget to pick up some
training materials and instructional videos. You can get everything you need at
Guitar Paradise.
Bring
your guitar home and shred on.

Hmm. Important points, but you leave out the emotional aspect--do you feel CONNECTED to the instrument (and this can be one of a group of identical instruments). Does it come alive in your hands? I have three guitars right now. One was bought as a utility. It's OK. One is a Martin OO18 I bought >30 years ago--it LIVES! One is a Craviola I got a few months back, after looking for one in my price range for >30 years. This one also LIVES. I've had others that just sit there. Fine instruments, but not connected. Regardless of price.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, yes I do agree with you. Usually the instrument that you have bought, stays with you for a long time, so you should feel connected.
